SC659 Do Something Creative Every Day

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the new sketch at Splitcoaststampers and this is such a creative sketch by Allison, isn’t it?  I love how our Sketch DT interpreted the sketch and we cannot wait to see what you will create!

I decided to pull out the retired Retro Fresh designer paper and pair it with the Crafting Forever stamp set (new in the 2017-2018 Idea Book & Catalog) as well as the Timeless Textures stamp set.

If you have not had a chance to check out the Word Art Wednesday challenge site yet, or come visit our sketch challenge gallery,  I hope you will find the time to do so- as always, gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Using archival black ink, stamp the Crafting Forever paintbrush image along with the sentiment onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  Watercolor the paintbrush image with an AquaPainter™ and Stampin’ Write Markers (Pool Party, Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango) as well as a Basic Black SU! Watercolor Pencil (for the bristles, metallic parts of the brushes and shadows).

2). Fussy-cut the paintbrush image and set aside.  Die cut the sentiment with the Circle Framelits™, mount onto a stitched circle die cut from Baked Brown Sugar cardstock.  Use the AquaPainter™ with diluted ink from the markers above to add a bit of color.

3). Trim a piece of Retro Fresh designer paper to 4” x 5 ¼”, mount onto a piece of Baked Brown Sugar cardstock.

4). Create the diagonal strips per the sketch from the Retro Fresh DSP and Pool Party cardstock, mount onto Baked Brown Sugar cardstock and trim close to the edge.  Layer onto the background panel and trim off the edges.

5). Die cut a large stitched circle from Baked Brown Sugar cardstock and a smaller circle to fit within the stitched circle from Retro Fresh DSP.  Layer the two together and mount onto the background panel.

6). Mount the entire background panel onto Extra Thick Whisper White cardstock and add the paint brush image and sentiment with dimensional foam.

7). Ink the small splatter stamp from Timeless Textures with the Baked Brown Sugar Stampin’ Write Marker and add a few splatters.

8). Add shimmer to the sentiment and brushes with Clear Wink of Stella™ to finish off the card.

Be Strong and Take Heart

Hi Friends!

This Mixed Media card was designed using the current Scripture Collection 3 stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs along with the retired Blooming with Kindness stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

If you have not had a chance to check out the above challenges yet, I hope you will find the time to do so- as always, gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). On a craft mat, press the Stampin’ Up! Daffodil Delight Classic Ink, lightly spritz with water, lay a piece of vanilla cardstock into the ink, lift up and press again.  Dry with a heat tool and repeat the process again with Wild Wasabi Classic Ink. FYI- I used a piece of cream colored cardstock that I had received free from my previous employer- it has a bit of a coating and I am not sure of the manufacturer (it was an overstock from a print job).  It has a heavy weight and handles moisture fairly well.

2). Once the panel is thoroughly dry, de-static with the Embossing Buddy®, ink the retired Blooming with Kindness image using Fresh Fig Classic Ink, stamp onto the panel, apply Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with the heat tool.  Repeat the steps to stamp the flower along the edge of the panel.

3). Once the embossing has cooled, color over the flowers with a Faber-Castell® Banana Gelatos™, use a water brush to dilute the color and allow the color to dry.

4). Use a water brush to apply additional Wild Wasabi Classic Ink around the images and splatter a bit of Wild Wasabi ink over the panel as well.

5). Press a Faber-Castell® Metallic Grape Gelatos™ onto the craft mat, dilute with a water brush and water color some of the petals.

6). Once all of the floral images are dry, stamp the sentiment from Scripture Collection 3 (Our Daily Bread Designs) with Fresh Fig Classic Ink and heat emboss with Clear Embossing Powder.

7). Trim the panel, mount onto a piece of Wild Wasabi cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Fresh Fig cardstock, trim and mount onto the Daffodil Delight card base.

8). Use a Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen over the floral images and add a few sequins to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Blooming with Kindness (retired Stampin’ Up!), Scripture Collection 3 (Our Daily Bread Designs)

Ink/Mediums: Daffodil Delight, Fresh Fig, Wild Wasabi Stampin’ Up! Classic Ink; Faber-Castell® Gelatos™- Banana, Metallic Grape; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Paper: Misc. Cream Colored (coated paper), Daffodil Delight, Fresh Fig, Wild Wasabi

Accessories/Tools: Embossing Buddy®, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Emboss® Clear Embossing Powder, Sequins from my stash

SC658 Hello Friend

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the new SC658 sketch at Splitcoaststampers and I just love the sketch that Carey created for us this week, it is so versatile!

I have a few new cat stamps from Stampendous® that I have not had a chance to ink up yet, so I pulled out Curious Feline and paired it with Sunday Sentiments from Mama Elephant.  I decided to color the image based off my sweet "Angel"- this image reminded me of her! She is always by my side when I am stamping or whatever I am doing, so the "Hello Friend" sentiment applies to her as well!

In addition to using the Splitcoaststampers SC658 Sketch for the layout, I am also linking this card to the CAS-ual Fridays #180 “Friendship” Challenge, the PINSpirational #197 Photo Inspiration Challenge and the Tuesday Throwdown #356 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to check out the above challenges yet, I hope you will find the time to do so- as always, gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Ink the Curious Feline (Stampendous®) image with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Color the image with Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils- I used Daffodil Delight and Old Olive for the eyes, Basic Black for the fur and Whisper White for the hairs in the ears.  I tried to mimic the fur with the pencil strokes and continued to add layers once I added water with an AquaPainter™.  Once the image was colored to my satisfaction, I added a bit more color with a Conté ά Paris Black Pastel Pencil, blending with a paper stump.  Fussy-cut the image and set aside.

2). Layer a piece of Whisper White cardstock onto the Basic Black card base, add a strip of striped black and white designer paper (from my stash) per the sketch.  Mount the card front onto the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

3). Use the Big Shot™ with the Darice™ Pawprints Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock for the front vertical panel.

4). Trim a piece of Certainly Celery designer paper (retired from my massive stash of paper- lol!), mount onto the Basic Black cardstock and create the second vertical panel per the sketch.  Mount directly onto the card front.

5). Add the fussy cut cat image behind the first panel and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam.

6). Stamp the sentiment from Sunday Sentiments with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Create the fishtail banner with a Hexagon Punch, layer onto Basic Black cardstock, and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam.

7). Use a Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen to add shimmer to the eyes and an Extra Fine Sharpie® White Paint Pen to add highlights.  Once the paint has dried, use Glossy Accents™ to fill in the eyes to finish off the card (make sure you allow the Glossy Accents™ to dry overnight).

Stamp Sets: Curious Feline (Stampendous®), Sunday Sentiments (Mama Elephant)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black; Stampin’ Write Watercolor Pencils- Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Basic Black, Whisper White; Conté ά Paris Black Pastel Pencil , Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen, Extra Fine White Sharpie® Paint Pen

Paper: Whisper White, Extra Thick Whisper White, Basic Black, retired Stampin’ Up! Certainly Celery Designer Series Paper; Misc Black and White designer paper

Accessories/Tools: retired Hexagon Punch, AquaPainter™

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- hugs and have a great week/weekend!

One Layer CAS Timeless Classic Thank You

Hi Friends!!

I am still working on organizing my stamping area but decided to take a break to create a One Layer CAS (Clean and Simple) card using the Timeless Classic stamp set along with the large splatter image from the retired Stampin’ Up! Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  I  had originally purchased the Timeless Classic stamp set from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps several years ago (it is retired now from SNSS but is still available from Impression Obsession™ t/a I/O Stamps) and have only inked it up once before today :-)

If you have not already had a chance to visit the above challenge sites, I hope you will do so- fabulous examples from their Design Teams as well as in their galleries!

To create this card:

1). Score a 4 ¼” x 11” piece of Stampin’ Up! Naturals White (retired) cardstock in half and stamp the Timeless Classic truck image onto the front of the card using Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink.  Heat set the ink with a heat tool and color using an AquaPainter™ with ink from the Bermuda Bay, Pear Pizzazz and Calypso Coral Classic Ink Pads.  Use a Spectrum Noir™ CB8 Alcohol Marker to add additional color to the truck and the Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker for shadows.

2). Mask the entire truck image and stamp the large splatter image from Gorgeous Grunge with Bermuda Bay and Pear Pizzazz Classic Ink (I did use the AquaPainter™ to blend the ink a bit).

3). Remove the mask and use a Faber-Castell™ Silver Pitt Pen Marker to color the gears, border frame, wheel covers and fender.  Add shimmer to the truck panels with a Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen and white highlights to the wheels with an Extra Fine Sharpie® White Paint Pen.

4). Finish off the card by stamping the sentiment from Timeless Classic with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink and adding a few drops to the center of the gears using Nuvo™ Gloss Black Crystal Drops.
Stamp Sets: Timeless Classic (I/O Stamps), Gorgeous Grunge (retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black; SU! Classic Ink- Bermuda Bay, Pear Pizzazz, Calypso Coral; Stampin’ Write Calypso Coral Marker, Spectrum Noir™ CT8 Alcohol Marker and Clear Glitter Pen, Extra Fine Sharpie® White Paint Pen, Faber-Castell™ Pitt-Pen Silver Marker, Nuvo™ Gloss Black Crystal Drops

Paper: Naturals White

Accessories/Tools:  AquaPainter™, Masking Paper

SUO181 Butterfly Basics- Brick Wall Technique

Hi Friends!

I wanted to try the Splitcoaststampers TLC650 “Another Brick in the Wall” Technique challenge (see tutorial here) and decided to use the CC647 Color Challenge (including “dessert”).  I am also linking this card to the Word Art Wednesday #294-#295 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to stop by the SU-Only Challenge site to check out the rest of the Design Team projects or the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Tap the So Saffron Classic Ink pad onto an acrylic block or silicone mat, spritz with water and lay a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock into the ink.  Repeat the process until you are satisfied with the results. Heat the paper with the Heat Tool to dry between layers of ink.

2). Ink the fern image from Butterfly Basics with Pear Pizzazz Classic Ink and stamp repeatedly onto the background panel. Stamp the honeycomb image with So Saffron Classic Ink repeatedly over the panel and add a bit of splatter with the small splatter stamp from Timeless Textures using Pear Pizzazz Classic Ink.

3). Trim the panel and using the Paper Trimmer, cut the panel into ½” horizontal pieces (as you cut, lightly number the pieces on the back in 4 different places- trust me, this will help immensely in remembering where the pieces go back into place).

4). After you cut the horizontal strips, take each strip and cut into “bricks” (I used 1 ¼” and 1” segments).  Lightly sponge Soft Suede Classic Ink over the edges and adhere to a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock.  ***FYI- On my first attempt, I did not number the rows as I cut the initial strips and put them in order on my craft mat, but as I sponged the pieces, I accidentally flipped my mat and after a few hours of trying to piece them back together, I gave up and started again. The second time I numbered the rows as I cut the strips and it worked so well.***

5). Stamp the honeycomb image with So Saffon Classic Ink onto another piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, sponge the edges with Soft Suede Classic Ink, trim and mount onto a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Berry Burst cardstock.  Adhere the panel to the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

6). Ink the flowers from Butterfly Basics using Stampin’ Archival™ Basic Black Ink and stamp two sets of the images onto Whisper White cardstock.  Using Berry Burst and Pear Pizzazz Classic Ink, watercolor the flowers with an AquaPainter™ (adding shadows with the same colors of Stampin’ Write Markers).  Once you are satisfied with the coloring, fussy-cut each of the flowers.

7). Adhere the background flowers directly to the card front and mount the flowers in the foreground using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

8). Use Clear Wink of Stella® to add shimmer to the flower petals and the White Gel Pen to add a few highlights to the flower centers.

9). Ink the butterflies from Butterfly Basics using Berry Burst Classic Ink, fussy-cut the butterflies and mount onto the card front.

10). Stamp the sentiment from Rose Wonder using Berry Burst Classic Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock, die  cut with the Stitched Layering Framelits™ , sponge Soft Suede Classic Ink over the edges and mount onto a die cut circle of Berry Burst cardstock (die cut with the Layering Circle Framelits™).

11). Adhere a strip of Berry Burst cardstock with Stampin’ Dimensionals® (on the area around the popped-up flower), add the Berry Burst bow (created with the Bow Builder Punch) and mount the layered sentiment.  Mount the retired button with a strand of burlap ribbon to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Butterfly Basics, Rose Wonder, Timeless Textures

Ink/Mediums: Stampin’ Archival™ Basic Black, Classic Ink- Berry Burst, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede, So Saffron; Clear Wink of Stella® , White Gel Pen
Paper: Very Vanilla, Berry Burst, Pear Pizzazz, Extra Thick Whisper White

F4A390 Thy Word is A Lamp Unto My Feet

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the Splitcoaststampers F4A390 “See the Light” Challenge and I decided to create a card using the Shining Light Clear Stamp Set (designed by Korin Sutherland) from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps.

I also incorporated the Time Out Challenges #89 Home Sweet Home Inspiration Challenge (I was inspired by the map, lamp and neutral colors) into the design and as well as the Word Art Wednesday #294-#295 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Ink the lighthouse and sentiment images from Shining Light with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink and stamp onto a piece of vanilla cardstock.

2). Die cut the lighthouse image with a pierced tag die and the sentiment with a stitched square die.

3). Use a black watercolor pencil to color the lighthouse and draw a few clouds in the background and apply water with a water brush to blend the color.  Dry the image with a heat tool and use a yellow watercolor pencil for the “light”.  Repeat the clouds on the sentiment and apply a thin wash of yellow as well.

4). Use a clear glitter pen over the yellow areas and a fine black india ink pen to draw a few birds on the tag.

5). Mount both the lighthouse tag and sentiment square onto black cardstock and trim close to the die cut edges.

6). Trim a piece of designer paper and mount onto black cardstock.  Add the horizontal strip with the knotted twine and adhere the entire background panel onto the white card base.

7). Add the lighthouse tag and sentiment with dimensional foam.

8). Knot a few scraps of burlap ribbon pieces around a brass spiral clip and add to the corner of the sentiment to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Shining Light (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils- Basic Black, Daffodil Delight;  Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen, Faber-Castell™  XS Black Pitt Pen Marker
